I was born an athlete. My grandfather handmade my first pair of skis. Leather bindings and poles made from broom handles. I went to university to study Physical Education and have played, coached, officiated, volunteered in almost every sport. The journey brought me to the Olympics as an official. But I truly loved coaching. The chance to support a young athlete to be the best version of themselves has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life!
I was born a miner. My children have had their hand in it. One has made it his life’s work. He is 5th generation miner. Starting in the nickel mines of Sudbury to the iron ore mines of Labrador. From the coal mines of BC to the copper mines of Utah. From the Oil Sands in Alberta to the gold mines of Northern Ontario. Our family has been involved in mining for a long time. It is our life’s’ labor. Coaching young mining professionals has also become one of the most fulfilling part of my life!
